This impending general election sees the British far right in its
strongest position for a generation.
Covering the far right presents special problems for the media,
because of its tendency to hide its extremist core behind a facade of respectability and democratic accountability.
This unique event offers an opportunity to quiz experienced
journalists who have spent many hours in the company of BNP leaders and activists.
Dominic Carman is standing as a parliamentary candidate for the Lib Dems in Barking & Dagenham, explicitly on a platform of exposing BNP leader Nick Griffin.
Marc Vallée has worked on major investigations on police surveillance of protesters and journalists as well as covert state targeting of environmental activists. He will be talking on how the far right target photographers and journalists covering their protests.
The speakers will provide original news lines as the general election campaign gets under way.
