Ten questions that expose Nick Griffin

On the day that the BNP launches its election manifesto, Expose the BNP has researched 10 questions for journalists to put to the BNP leader, the answers to which reveal him to be a deeply racist, anti-Semitic Holocaust denier who boasts about his criminal past.

1. In which year did you stop denying the Holocaust? [See note A]

2. Do you unequivocally accept that six million Jewish people were gassed to death in Nazi concentration camps – yes or no? [See note B]

3. Do you condemn those who deny the Holocaust? Do you exclude such people from the BNP? [See note C]

4. You are on record as saying: “If Hitler hadn’t been so daft, they’d have exterminated the German Jews.” Why was Hitler daft not to exterminate the German Jews?

5. Does your criminal conviction for race hatred (1998) give you credibility as leader with other BNP members? [See note D]

6. You are on record boasting about repeatedly breaking the Race Act and other laws. How many times have you broken the law?

7. You were declared bankrupt in 1990 – how exactly did that happen and for how much were you made bankrupt? [See note E]

8. You are on record saying there is a criminal gene which justifies a eugenics policy. Why do you advocate sterilisation of criminals? How does that policy differ from that pursued in Nazi Germany?

9. You are on record as saying: “The Jews have bought the West and control the press for their own political ends”. Why do you think that?

10. You say you want to bring our troops home from Afghanistan. So why is it that you are on record saying that British troops “should obliterate as many cities as it takes” to stop cultivation of the opium poppy?

NOTES

A. Griffin was convicted and fined for publishing racially inflammatory material in 1998. At the trial he said: “I am well aware that the orthodox opinion is that six million Jews were gassed and cremated and turned into lampshades. Orthodox opinion also once held that the Earth was flat … I have reached the conclusion that the ‘extermination’ tale is a mixture of Allied wartime propaganda, extremely profitable lie, and latter day witch-hysteria.”

B. Griffin may reply that European law prevents him answering this question – it does not. Jack Straw, justice secretary, has pointed out that Holocaust denial laws do not apply in this country.

C. The former leader of the BNP in Stoke said recently that “there is a vein of Holocaust denying within the BNP” and that the party’s parliamentary candidates have Nazi sympathies.

D. Griffin is on record saying that his race hatred conviction in 1998 was “important in establishing my credentials” in the BNP and helping him win the leadership contest in 1999, by giving him credibility within the party in which a high percentage of activists have criminal convictions. “I wouldn’t have become BNP leader without it,” he said.

E. Griffin’s father is on record as saying that his son went bankrupt in the early 1990s because of fines against him. A few years later Griffin also destroyed his family financially because of huge loans he took out using their money to speculate in property just before the housing market crashed in the early 1990s.
