Thousands of anti-fascist protesters are expected in Bolton tomorrow to counter demonstrate the English Defence Leagues anti-Muslim march.
Formed in 2009, with close links to the BNP, the EDL claim that they are remonstrating against Muslim extremism and are not racist or violent. However, other marches have witnessed them raising Nazi salutes, chanting racist slogans such as ‘Get Muslims off our streets’ and ‘Pakis go home’, rioting and assaults on local people.
Indeed, a promo video for Saturdays march on their website states: ‘And so from the people of Britain to the entire Islamic population within these Isles, we would like to say FUCK OFF, you are no longer welcome in Britain’. No equivocation there then.

Leading journalists and media workers today called on the editors of local newspapers in London boroughs targeted by the BNP to reject political advertising by the party.
In previous elections newspapers and websites have come under pressure to carry advertising from the BNP, which claims that the press must uphold “democracy” and “free speech” by taking ads. Other newspapers have refused, however.

The media union Bectu has produced a guide to the BNP’s publicly declared policies, based on excerpts from the BNP’s recent election manifestos.
The documents complements the NUJ’s reportingthebnp.org website.
Reading the guide, one is struck by the underlying growl of race hatred – despite the fact that these are public documents, and therefore do not represent the plans of the fascist core of the BNP’s leadership.

While continuing to whip up hysteria over the “Islamic terror threat”, the media are ignoring a massive story – the rise of Nazi terror groups in Britain.
This week the BBC news website reported that “a man has admitted producing the lethal poison ricin while preparing for acts of terrorism”. The article made no mention of the man’s politics, stating only that he possessed a copy of the “Anarchists’ Handbook” for making explosives.

The Dail Mirror and Daily Mail (March 4) report that Griffin will be back on the BBC, including Panorama. The Mirror says:
Despite the row in the wake of Griffin’s appearance on Question Time last year, he will appear again at the height of the general election campaign in the spring.
The BBC said “alongside” the TV debate between leaders Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg, they are to hold a “minor parties debate”.

Londoners will be gathering at 11am outside the Houses of Parliament on Friday March 5 to protest against the racist English Defence League. The EDL is a group of violent hooligans with links to the fascist British National Party. It wants to march through London to intimidate and harass Muslims and other ethnic minorities.
